Is There a Difference Between the Highs from Smoking and Vaping Weed?
February 5, 2021 2:28 am Leave your thoughtsArizona citizens officially voted to “legalize it” in November 2020, and as of January 2021, adults age 21 and older are now allowed to possess up to one ounce (28 grams) of marijuana, up to five grams of cannabis concentrates and up to six plants at their primary residence. Sales also became legal in January 2021.
That new law also placed a 16 percent excise tax on cannabis sales, in addition to any state and local sales taxes that may apply. So, while it’s very cool to be able to buy weed and enjoy it legally, in a controlled and safe environment, it’s not cheap. If you want to get the most bang for your buck, you might consider vaping.
Vaping weed will get you high in the same way that smoking weed does, but it will take less weed to get you just as high. Keep in mind, however, that every person in Scottsdale, AZ will react differently to cannabis, including between different methods of ingestion.
So, how does vaping work? What’s the difference between smoking weed and vaping weed? Are all vapes the same? Can you smoke cannabis flower in a vaporizer? It’s cool, just mellow out, because the answers to these questions lie ahead.
What is vaping?
Vaping is like smoking in that it involves inhaling through the lungs. But instead of smoke, it’s vapor that distributes cannabinoids into the bloodstream. But how is vaping weed different than smoking weed in Scottsdale, AZ?
Smoking involves burning the cannabis flower and inhaling the smoke. That has worked for decades, and it definitely allows the user to feel the effects, usually right away or very soon after consumption. But inhaling smoke means inhaling carcinogens, which are not good for the body.
Vaping is different because it’s not burning anything—it’s vaporizing it by heating it without fire, and therefore does not produce smoke or carcinogens. It’s easier on the lungs and, some say, healthier for the body.
Different kinds of vaporizers
There are many different types of vaporizers. Some involve vaporizing cannabis flower directly, and some use concentrates made from cannabis. Some are large and fantastical, while some are small and discreet.
The biggest vaporizer you’ll probably see is a tabletop- or box-style model commonly referred to as a Volcano, after the most popular maker of this style. This vaporizes cannabis flower, dispelling the vapor into a tube for immediate inhalation or into a plastic bag to inhale at one’s leisure or pass around (always to the left).
Pocket vapes, on the other hand, use primarily oil cartridges that can be swapped in and out of the unit easily. They can also use concentrates like wax (this is commonly referred to as a dab pen, and allows users to refill with their own concentrates rather than a pre-packed cartridge).
